Burkina Faso-a landlocked country in West Africa issued a special silver collectible coin in the year 2016 with a unique cut-out design. The coin is made of 1oz silver and is issued with the denomination of 1,000 FCFA - Central African CFA francs. The coin is among the World's 8 Sculpture Coins series and is an extremely high relief coin featuring a Giant Panda. The giant panda also is known as panda bear or simply panda is a bear native to south-central China. It is easily recognized by the large, distinctive black patches around its eyes, over the ears, and across its round body. The giant panda lives in a few mountain ranges in central China, mainly in Sichuan province, but also in neighboring provinces, namely Shaanxi and Gansu. As a result of farming, deforestation, and other development, the giant panda has been driven out of the lowland areas where it once lived.
In an attempt to spread awareness regarding saving this species, Burkina Faso issued this coin which features a giant panda in its natural habitat on the reverse. The obverse, on the other hand, coat of arms of Burkina Faso, surrounded by the legend: “REPUBLIQUE DU BURKINA FASO” with the denomination 1000 FRANCS CFA below and the composition of coin 1 OZ .999 silver at the bottom.
