The United States of America had issued this commemorative silver dollar with the theme of Los Angeles Olympiad Coliseum in the year 1984. This commemorative coin was issued to support the Los Angeles Olympic Games.
According to the public law 97-220 of United States of America, 50 percent surcharges collected from the sales of this coin will be used to fund train athletes, to support local or community amateur athletic programs, and to erect training facilities. The remaining 50 percent of the sales of this coin will be used to stage and promote the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
The obverse of this coin depicts sculpture proposed that was to be placed in front of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum with the Olympic Stadium in the background. The reverse of this coin depicts the picture of the eagle.
