The United States of America had issued this commemorative $5 gold coin in the year 2016 with the theme of National Park Service. This coin was issued to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of National Park Service.The National Park Service had been the governance of the American National Park since 1916 when President Woodrow Wilson signed legislation creating the agency. The surcharges from the sale of this coin will be paid to the National Park Foundation, which works to preserve and protect resource under the stewardship of NPS. It also works to promote public enjoyment and appreciation of these resources.
The obverse of this gold coin depicts the portrait of John Muir and Theodore Roosevelt with Yosemite National Park's Half Dome in the background. The reverse of the coin depicts the National Park Service logo.
