The United States of America had issued this commemorative half dollar with the theme of soccer in the year 1996. This commemorative quarter dollar was issued to commemorate Atlanta Centennial Olympics Games and program of the United States Olympic Committee. The surcharges from the sale of these coins will be used to fund a variety of organization and projects that benefit the public.
The obverse of this coin depicts the design of two women playing soccer. The reverse of this coin depicts the design of the mark of the Atlanta Committee for the Olympics Games. The highlight of this symbol is the Olympic Flame, the Olympic Torch, the Olympic Rings, a Greek column, and a "100" to mark the centennial of the modern Olympic Games.
