The United States of America had issued this commemorative five dollar. This United States Olympic coin was unveiled at Denver mint on 2nd May 1988. Congress authorized this coin to support the training of American athletes participating in the 1988 Olympic Games.The United States of America will use the surcharges from this coin to train United States Olympic athletes, to support local or community amateur athletic programs, and to erect training facilities.
The obverse of this coin features Nike, goddess of Victory, in a wreath of olive leaves. The reverse of this coin features Olympic flame.
