Vikram Sarabhai to be Featured on New Indian Coin

The Government of India issued the gazette notification to issue a commemorative coin on occasion of Birth Centenary of Vikram Sarabhai.Born on 12 August 1919, Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai was an Indian scientist and innovator widely regarded as the father of India's space programme. The year 2019 marks Birth Centenary of this Icon of India.
Government of India has come up with a new commemorative UNC proof coin that was planned to be released on 12th August 2019 on occasion of Birth Anniversary of Vikram Sarabhai. The coin will be in the denomination of Rs 100. Below are the details of the commemorative issue as per the gazette notification.
Obverse: the obverse side of the coin shall bear the National Emblem of India with “Satyamev Jayate below. The emblem is flanked by “Bharat” and “India” on either side. The denomination Rs. 100 is at the bottom.
Reverse: The reverse shall bear the facing portrait of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai in the center with the inscription “Vikram Sarabhai Janma Shatabdi Varsha” in Devanagari and “Vikram Sarabhai Birth Centenary Year” in Roman. Years 1919 – 2019 can be seen under the portrait.
