2016-11-14 Mon

Many people have been complaining about an apparent mistake on the newly released 500 rupees and 2000 rupees notes. These are rumours which were majorly spread through social media and online communication platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp etc.

The rumour goes that there is a mistake in the Hindi translation on the back side of Rs 2000 notes where the denomination of the note is written as Don Hazar Rupaya in Devnagri. People started complaining that these notes have a printing mistake and also talked about the quality of the notes.

The 15 languages on the currency notes issued do not include Hindi, the languages included are- Aasamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit. The Devnagri script which people are complaining about is actually Konkani and not Hindi.

Please refrain from spreading such rumours and check every forward for authenticity before sharing it with others. Recent rumours of depleting salt stocks increased prices to Rs 200-300 per kg in some states of the country.

Rumours like these will only add to the confusion and trouble which people are already facing in getting their cash exchanged, deposited or withdrawn.
