Lahore was one of the important mints of the Mughal Empire from 1524 CE to 1752 CE. Between 1524 CE to 1752 CE Lahore had touched the zenith of its glory. For more than 200 years this city had a thriving cultural center for the Mughal Empire; the Mughal Empire had enriched this center with palaces, gardens, and mosques. It had reached at a peak of architectural glory during the rule of the Mughal rule.
Lahore came under the rule of Mughal Empire in the year 1524; before the Mughal Empire the city was ruled by Ghaznavi’s, and by various Muslims dynasties of Delhi Sultanate like Mamluk, Khaljis, Tughlaqs, Sayyid, Lodhis and by Suris.
This gold mohur was issued by Mughal emperor Abu'l-Fath Jalal-ud-din Muhammad Akbar from the mint Dar us-Sultanate Lahore.
