New Metal Coins with See-Through Plastic in the Middle
2016-04-14 Thu
The latest five-Euro coin, named “Blue Planet Earth” released by Bavarian Finance ministry on 11th April has a blue plastic ring in the middle to improve security features and curb counterfeiting activities. A check for authenticity is possible with just a look at the coin and it’s a very complex process to produce the plastic itself. Since plastic insulates the two pieces of metal, cash machines can now easily differentiate between real and fake coins. Some experts believe that it is the most innovative coin of the era. Bavarian finance ministry could also implement the new design on other mainstream coins and looking to win contracts from abroad for the production of similar coins.
