Originally written by Bismil Azimabadi, these words that fill us with immense pride for our country were immortalized by Ram Prasad Bismil. He was the revolutionary leader who defined courage and fearless patriotism in freedom movement.
Ram Prasad Bismil was born on 11th June 1897, in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He was among those prominent revolutionary leaders who believed in ousting the British by force. As well as being a freedom fighter, he was a patriotic poet and wrote in Hindi and Urdu.
He was also one of the founding members of the Hindustan Republican Association, a revolutionary organization that had vowed to set India free from the shackles of British rule. His team members consisted of great freedom fighters like Ashfaqulla Khan, Thakur Roshan Singh, Rajendra Nath Lahiri and many more. He along with Ashfaqullah Khan plays a key role in the famous Kakori train robbery of 1925.
To mark the martyrdom the special commemorative stamp was released by Indian postal service on 19th December 1997 along with the first-day cover. The denomination on the stamp is INR 2. The stamp has a print of newspaper of the day when Ashfaqullah Khan and Ram Prasad Bismil were executed along with their portrait and names.
