It can’t get bigger than this! The largest silver coin in the world The Silver Ivory Coast Elephant is now available in India. This humongous coin weighs 55 kgs, measures 2 feet in diameter and is made of .999 fine silver. The coin is issued by Ivory Coast and has a face value of 1,000,000 Francs CFA. If it is converted into Indian rupees, it will cost you a very good amount. 1 crore!Only 15 such coins are available in the world and one of them is allotted to India by the German company which manufactured it. The coin being offered in India by A G Impex, a Kolkata-based firm involved in manufacture and sale of custom-made coins and stamps. The silver content of the coin costs Rs. 40 lakhs.
The coin is dedicated to the African Elephant which is featured on the obverse. The French inscription on the coin reads "Le Monde Animal en Peril," or "The Animal World in Peril."
Agriculture and human population has considerably reduced the African elephant’s habitat. Poaching activities mainly for their tusks has further reduced their numbers to such an extent that experts believe that they will soon be extinct.
Officials believe that such hand-crafted and unique metal coins are highly valued by big ticket investors.
