Apollo 13 successfully launched!

Apollo 13 the seventh manned mission in the American Apollo space program and the third intended to land on the Moon was launched on April 11, 1970, from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida.The crew members of the Apollo 13 were astronauts James A. Lovell, John L. Swigert, and Fred W. Haise. The astronauts were to explore the Imbrium Basin and conduct geological experiments but after an oxygen tank explosion on the evening of April 13 the lunar landing was cancelled and the entire mission now revolved around bringing the crew back home alive!
Fighting against all the odds, the team landed safely on 17th of April.
Countries like Fujeira, Manama, Umm Al Quwain, Republique Du Mali, Sao Tome and Principe, Yemen, Ras Al Khaimah and etc have issued commemorative stamps to celebrate the safe return of the astronauts.
