Kandukuri Veeresalingam, one of the early social reformers who encouraged women education, remarriage of widows and fought against dowry system. He is considered as the Father of renaissance movement in Telugu.
Some of his great works is include Rajasekhara Charitra (first Telugu novel), Brahma Vivaham (play), Kanyasulkam, Gopala Satakamu, and Abhagyopakhyanamu (satire on society).
He breathed his last on 27th May 1919. In his memory India Postal Department has issued 25 Paise commemorative postage stamp in 1974.
