In September 2015, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Indo-Pak war of 1965.The 1965 Indo-Pak War was the second conflict between India and Pakistan, after the First Kashmir War 1947-49. The war took place after Pakistan launched a covert operation across the ceasefire line and infiltrated forces into Jammu and Kashmir. The seventeen-day war caused thousands of casualties on both sides and also witnessed the largest tank battle since World War II. 128 Indian tanks and 150 Pakistani tanks were destroyed. The war ended with UN intervention and ceasefire was declared.
To honour the valour and sacrifice of our soldiers three INR 5 commemorative stamps have been issued by the Department of Posts, India one each on the Army, Air Force, and the Navy.
Two Commemorative Coins have been issued by the Mumbai Mint in the denominations of INR 50 and INR 5 on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the 1965 Operations in the Indo-Pak War in the Proof and Uncirculated Coin Categories.
On behalf of the Mintage World, we pay tribute to all the soldiers who lost their lives in this battle protecting our motherland.
