2016-04-08 Fri
Foreign sponsors are pitching in to issue a new banknote to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the State Bank of Vietnam.Four top foreign banknote manufacturers from Germany, Switzerland, and France will put in money to cover costs for rag papers, ink, and technology used in printing the 100-dong paper money which would be released on May 6th. Though the notes will not be used for general circulation, they will have to go through rigorous printing and issuing procedures.
Officials say that this 100-dong bill, made using latest technology will depict iconic cultural, socio-economic, and historical values of Vietnam. The profit from selling them will contribute to the bank’s revenue.
The souvenir banknote can be purchased at VND 20,000-25,000 apiece.
