One of the greatest all-rounders in the history of Indian cricket, Mulvantrai Himmatlal Mankad or Vinoo Mankad was born on 12th April 1917.

He represented India in 44 Tests, averaged 31.47 with the bat. He also scored 5 centuries and 6 fifties during the course of his Test career. His top performance as an all-rounder came against England at Lord’s in 1952.

Today, he is remembered as one of the greats of Indian cricket. The Government of India awarded him the civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan in 1973. The BCCI commemorated Vinoo Mankad's contribution to Indian cricket, naming the domestic Under-19 One-day tournament as the Vinoo Mankad Trophy.

India Postal Department has issued 200 Paisa commemorative postage stamps in 1995.
