The most famous historical figure of central Asia, Timur or Tamerlane was born on 9th April 1336. He was one of the greatest nomadic rulers, who conquered most of the Islamic world. He was both feared and respected by his contemporaries.Timur’s military conquests saw him conquer the land that comprises the modern day countries of Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, large parts of Turkey and Syria, and the north-western portion of India (Delhi).
As the founder of the Timurid Empire in Persia and Central Asia, he became the first ruler in the Timurid dynasty. The above shown gold Dinar issued during his reign. The obverse of a coin depicted the Kalima on its field and the names of the Khalifa-e-Rashidun illustrated around. The reverse of the coin has king’s name and mint name.
