2016-04-06 Wed
On 5th April, the sale of 99.99% pure silver Rainbow coin was initiated by the Royal Canadian Mint. These coins were so popular that out of the 8000 coins, 87% of them are already sold by the Mint. The reverse of the coin, created by Canadian artist Tony Bianco, tries to recreate the real look of a beautiful rainbow by using diffused technology and vivid paint while allowing the engraved background to faintly show through. The rainbow has emerged at a wonderful countryside featuring a farmhouse and a barn on a gentle slope and an entry road along with two round bales of hay in the foreground. Other inscriptions include ‘CANADA’, ‘20 DOLLARS’, and ‘2016’.
Obverses feature a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with inscriptions of ‘ELIZABETH II’ and ‘D G REGINA’.
