Rare Banknotes At Stack’s Bowers Sale

Stack’s Bowers Galleries is hosting a paper money auction starting today (March 31st-April 3rd) which is a part of the Whitman Baltimore Expo, at the Baltimore Convention Centre. The online sale is going to start on April 4th. The star note at this sale would be a 1934 $10,000 Federal Reserve Note from the Binion Horsehoe Casino $1 million display which is expected to fetch $100,000 to $150,000.Next in line is a 1934 $5,000 Federal Reserve Note, Chicago, in PMG Extremely Fine 40 Net, Splits, Internal Tear which stands at an estimate price of $80,000 to $100,000. One of only six known from the Kansas District is another 1934 $5,000 Federal Reserve Note, Fr. 2221-J which is estimated at $70,000 to $90,000.
Other rare notes that are up for sale are: 1882 $5 No. 1 Brown Back, Fr. 471, on The First National Bank of Fernandina, Fla., charter 4558; 1902 $5 Plain Back from the First National Bank of Adair, Iowa, Fr. 600, charter 8699; 1902 Plain Back sheet, Fr. 635 and 661, charter 12518, uncut $10-10-10-20 sheet of four large-size serial No. 1 notes on the Security National Bank of West Minneapolis, and many more.
