The Indian Film Director and Screenwriter, Syed Amir Haider Kamal Naqvi breathed his last on 11th February 1993.Kamal Amrohi was born on 17 January 1918 at Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. He studied at Lahore, where L.K. Saigal discover him and took him to Mumbai. Here he started his career working on films like Jailor, Pukar and Bharosa.
Later, Amrohi gives us some wonderful films like Mahal (1949), Pakeezah (1972) and Razia Sultan (1983).
He was honour with a very prestigious award in his lifetime such as Filmfare Best Dialogue Award for Mughal-e-Azam. In 1972 his film Pakeeza was also nominated for Filmfare for Best Director Award.
He also appears on an Rs.5 commemorative stamp issued in the year 2013 by India Post.
