Nuclear Power da Vinci Stamp of Mexico

Mexico issued an airmail stamp in 1977 with the slogan “Mankind Destroyed by Nuclear Power”. The stamp commemorates the 10th anniversary of the Agreement of Tlatelolco banning nuclear weapons in Latin America.This stamp of 1.60-peso denomination shows a unique design of Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man shown as a skeleton against the background of a nuclear explosion with “Agreement of Tlatelolco” written in Spanish on the top.
Following the grave impact of the Hiroshima – Nagasaki incident, Mexico issued this stamp as a medium of creating awareness. Through this stamp, Mexico implies on the controlled use of weaponry especially of nuclear weapons and promotes worldwide peace.
