Devika Rani Chaudhuri, an Indian film actress, was born on 30th March 1908. She is widely acknowledged as the First Lady of Indian cinema.

Devika Rani had a successful film career that spanned 10 years from the 1930s to 1940s. She has won many awards including the Padmashri (1958), Dadasaheb Phalke Award (1970) and the Soviet Land Nehru Award (1990).

She acted in many women-centric films. A postage stamp commemorating her was released by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in February 2011.
