United States of America had issued one dollar commemorative coin of Dwight D. Eisenhower on 16th January 1990. This Commemorative coin was issued to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of Dwight D. Eisenhower. Dwight D. Eisenhower had served his country as 34th President of United States from the year 1953 -1961. Before becoming president of United States he had also served his country as supreme commander of Allied force in Western Europe during World War II. He had also played an important role in planning and supervising the invasion of North Africa in ‘Operation Torch’ in the year 1942-1943.

He was one of the most popular Presidents of in the history of United States who had won the presidency twice on the back of national adoration for the leadership in World War II as the General of the Army. During his presidency, he had played a significant role in the expansion of the Highway System. He created NASA; he had also put five justices on the Supreme Court.
