Ibrahim Shah Lodi was the ruler of Delhi Sultanate and also the last ruler of Lodi Dynasty who ruled from 1517 CE until he being defeated and killed in the Battle of Panipat by Babur in 1526 CE. With the defeat of Ibrahim Shah Lodi in the Battle of Panipat; the new era of Mughal Empire began in India.

Ibrahim Shah Lodi sat on the throne after the death of his father Sikandar Shah Lodi in the year 1517 CE. During the year 1515 CE the fortress of Chanderi came to the control of Sikandar Shah Lodi in a civil war between to Malwa rulers Mahmud II and his brother Muhammad. In that year Muhammad was proclaimed as the king of Malwa and the coins struck in his name during that year are also known to be found. After the death Muhammad II, his son Ahmad became the next king. Later; after the death of Sikandar Shah Lodi, his son Ahmad did not acknowledge the sovereignty of Ibrahim Shah Lodi. As a result, Ibrahim Shah Lodi sent Miyan Husain Farmuli to recover Chanderi, and Miyan Husain Farmuli was appointed as a governor there.

This Silver Half-Tanka issued which weighs around 5.4g was issued by Ibrahim Shah Lodi. This coin was sold for INR 25,000 at Todywalla Auction.
