Dwight David ‘Ike’ Eisenhower was born on 14th October 1890 in Denison, Texas. He was the son of David Jacob and Ida Elizabeth. ‘Ike’ relates to the entire family nickname.

He had served his country as supreme commander of Allied forces in Western Europe during World War II; Dwight D. Eisenhower had led a massive invasion on Nazi-occupied Europe that began on D-Day (June 6, 1944). During World War II he was Five-Star general in the Army of United States and had also served as Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Forces in Europe. He had also played an important role in planning and supervising the invasion of North Africa in ‘Operation Torch’ in the year 1942-1943.

Dwight David had served his country as 34th President of United States from the year 1953 -1961. He was one of the most popular Presidents of in the history of United States. He had won the presidency twice on the back of national adoration for the leadership in World War II as the General of the Army. During his presidency, he had played a significant role in the expansion of the Highway System. He created NASA; he had also put five justices on the Supreme Court.

The United States of America had created his commemorative coin with his portrait on the obverse side of the coin.
