Silver Double Rupee of Tipu Sultan Sold For INR 1,30,000

This silver Double Rupee issued by Tipu Sultan who is also known as ‘Tiger of Mysore’ was sold for INR 1,30,000 at Oswal Auction House held in Pune on 15th December 2018.Tipu Sultan is always remembered as one of the most powerful rulers of India. Tipu Sultan was the king of Mysore and also the son of Haider Ali. Kingdom Mysore has a very old history; it was built on the foundation of the mighty Vijaynagar Kingdom. Later it was ruled by the Wodeyar’s Dynasty, the first Muslim dynasty of Mysore and the first ruler of this dynasty was Haider Ali.
Tipu Sultan is best known for his glories fight against the British which leads Anglo-Mysore wars from 1780 to 1792. Later Tipu Sultan was defeated by the British and the throne of Mysore had a new regent as Maharaja Krishna Raja Wodeyar.
