Farrukhsiyar Gold Mohur listed for 2,00,000

This gold issued by Mughal ruled Farrukhsiyar during the first year of his reign is listed for INR 2,00,000 in the upcoming 76th Auction of Oswal Auction House; which will be held in Pune of 15th December 2018.

Farrukhsiyar ruled the Mughal Emperor from 1713 to 1719 AD. He sat on the Mughal throne of after he murdered Jahandar Shah with the help of Sayyid brothers, particularly, Sayyid Ali Khan Barha, who was chosen as grand wazir of Mughal Emperor.

Coins of Farukhsiyar were issued in gold, silver and copper from various mints. The denominations are Paisa, Mohur, Rupee, Dam, Fanam, Pagoda, Nisar, and Legal Dirham etc.

This gold mohur issued by him was minted in Ahsanabad and it weighs around 10.9g. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of the king and the reverse of the coin is inscribed with the julus formula and mint name and regnal year.
