The gold coin of King George VI was sold for INR 1, 25,000, it weighs around 15.97 grams. Todywalla auction sold this fascinating coin on 6th October 2018 in Chennai. This coin was issued in 1937.The obverse of this coin depicted the portrait of King George Vi facing left with continuous legend ‘ GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR: OMN:RX.F:D:IND:IMP’ meaning ‘George VI by the Grace of God, King of all the British territories, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India’ within the toothed rim.
The reverse of this coin depicts the profile of St George mounted on a horse holding a sword while slaying dragon with the issue date in exergue.
