Five peso coin issued by Bank of Philippines

To commemorate the 154th birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio and also his 120th death anniversary this coin was issued in December 2017. This five peso coin belongs to the New Generation currency coin series.The obverse of this 7.5-gram coin illustrates the inscription ‘Republika ng Pilipinas’ and the name and portrait of the father of the Philippine Revolution. The reverse of this coin depicts the Philippine plant ‘jade vine’ commonly known as ‘Tayabak’ with BSP logo.
The coin also boasts of corrosion resistance abilities and was reported enhanced to prevent counterfeiting. This coin is designed in a way that a blind person can clearly distinguish it.
