This one rupee commemorative coin was launched on 17th January 1991 on the occasion of 15th anniversary of I.C.D.S.I.C.D.S stands for Integrated Child Development Service. I.C.D.S is a government organization which was launched in the year 1975, During the year 1978, it was discontinued by the government of Morarji Desai and later it was relaunched again during Tenth Five Year Plan.
I.C.D.S is the world's largest community-based programme. It is one of the most important government schemes which aim for the overall development of children which belong to the economically weaker section of the society. It was launched with a certain objective.
• Improve nutrition and health status of children which belongs to the age group of 0-6 years.
• to lay the foundation for proper psychological, physical and social development of the child.
• It also reduces the incidence of malnutrition.
• It also provides services like Immunization, Health Checkup, Pre-School Education, Nutrition and Health Information etc.
This 1 rupee commemorative coin was launched by the Indian government to highlight the commendable work done by I.C.D.C.
