The Universal Postal Union has declared Swiss Post as the best postal administration in the world, in fact, Swiss Post had received the same award last year as well! The UPU had recently released Integrated Index for Postal Development were Swiss Post came first, the Netherlands took the second spot while Japan was third in line. The US Postal Service climbed up the ladder from 13th to 8th position.

The Index gives an overview of postal development all over the world. In 2018, the results were calculated based on an annual performance report of postal departments from 173 countries. The UPU takes into consideration various factors such as efficiency, speed, and quality of delivery and services; international networks and commitment; demand for the products and services and its relevance; innovation, revenue sources, sustainability etc. for ranking postal departments.
