The 2018 FIFA World cup is hosted by Russia. 32 national football teams are participating in this popular mega event and they’re all eyeing for the trophy. The host nation has issued several stamps to celebrate this sporting event. A special souvenir sheet was also released on 14th June – the day when the tournament began. The championship will go on till 15th July when one of the teams would lift the World Cup.

The interesting part is, countries which have not qualified for the tournament, have also issued special postage stamps to celebrate the event. This shows the love for the game. On 13th June, Lebanon issued two stamps featuring Zabivaka – the wolf, who’s the event’s mascot. The stamp has a denomination of £1,250. Sputnik and a Russian nesting doll are featured on the £2,250 stamp.
