Hong Kong Post Celebrates Centenary of 'Girl Guides'

Hong Kong Post introduces four inspiring stamps to celebrate the centenary of the Girl Guides. The stamps not only feature the four training areas of the Guide but also show the development of the association over 100 years.Established in 1916, the Hong Kong Girl Guides are dedicated to helping the local women to achieve development and empowering them. The stamps depicting the development of Hong Kong Girl Guides come with different denominations.
Stamp with the Denomination of $1.75 features the current Hong Kong Girl Guide uniform, with the “First Aid Badge with Chinese character “Gwong” at the centre of the emblem, symbolising the spirit of the Girl Guide Movement.
The stamp of $2.90 depicts the Brown uniform of the 1970’s. The stamp showcases the “Fitness” training area among the four Training Areas of Guide.
The stamp worth $3.70 showcases the Sea Rangers’ uniform from the 1940s. The Ranger training is based on a “self-governing and self-programming” principle.
The stamp with the highest denomination of $5 depicts the first costume of the Girl Guides. The uniform is distinctively Chinese in style. This stamp showcases the “Skill” area of training.
