India Post's Astrological Issue

India Post issued stamps depicting Zodiac Astrological signs of India. Issued in April 2010, the stamps are in a set of 12 with a separate miniature sheet.Jyotisha is one of the Vedanga, the six auxiliary disciplines used to support Vedic rituals. Astrology is one of the important parts of it.
The Indian astrology works with the constellations with the moon in the centre. The five elements are also taken into consideration while studying the horoscope.
Considering the vital importance of Astrology in the life of Indians, India Post has issued a set of twelve stamps featuring the 12 Zodiac signs.
The design of stamps is based on Indian folk art. The astrological symbols are depicted on the background reflecting 4 base colours of earth, air, water and fire.
The miniature sheet is designed in the form of Horoscope. The stamps worth Rs.5 are placed clock-wise on the sheet.
