2018-04-13 Fri
The Taiwanese government would not be removing effigies of President Chiang Kai-shek from Banknotes or Coins.According to the New Central Bank Governor, images of the Late President would be removed only if the new Transitional Justice Committee directs the bank to do the same. NT$200 banknote and the NT$1, NT$5 and NT$10 coins are the only currencies that depict images of Chiang Kai-shek currently.
The Central Bank or the Cabinet has no idea what the Transitional Justice Committee will decide as of now. Members of the Transitional Justice Committee could be announced on Wednesday,
It might cost NT$50 billion to produce New Taiwan dollars. Officials stated that even if the change has to be implemented, all banknotes or coins would not be replaced.
