2018 Gold & Silver Czech Lion Bullion Coins
2018-03-05 Mon
APMEX and Czech Mint have released new coins celebrating the famous two-tailed Czech lion. The same imagery is also depicted on the Czech Republic coat of arms. The Mint’s first-ever bullion coin with the same design called Czech lion bullion was released in 2017. A branch of a linden tree is also depicted. It is believed that these branches are sacred in Slavic mythology. The first release was a grand success. This time, they are releasing silver coins with the same design in various sizes from 1 oz to 1 kilo. Gold versions would be available from 1/25 oz up to 1 kilo. Only 20,000 1 oz Silver Czech Lion coins would be released.
The lion is protecting the Crown of Saint Wenceslas. The shield features a burning eagle which is the national patron’s emblem. A portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse along with other inscriptions like year and denomination.
