2018 Breast Cancer Awareness Commemorative Coins to be Out Soon

Sale of the 2018 Breast Cancer Awareness Commemorative coins will begin on 15th March. One of the versions is going to be a pink gold coin which is the first of its kind to be issued by US Mint. 50,000 Proof and Uncirculated versions of this $5 coin would be released. 400,000 silver dollar coins in Proof and Uncirculated versions would be released. 7,50,000 copper-nickel clad half dollar coins will also be available.Proof and Uncirculated version of the silver dollar can be purchased for $51.95 and $48.95 respectively for the first 30 days. The copper-nickel clad half dollar Proof and Uncirculated versions can be purchased for $27.95 and $25.95 respectively for the first 30 days. $5 would be added to the pricing later on.
Generally, the gold $5 commemorative coins are made of 90 % gold and 10% copper. The pink gold coins will be made of 85% gold, 14.8% copper and 0.2% zinc.
The thickness and diameter of the pink gold coins will be same as the .900 fine gold coins, ie. 21.59 millimeters and 1.75 millimeters. However, it would be lighter by 5.6% and weigh 6.741 grams.
The unique composition will make the coins look pinkish in colour to connect with the breast cancer treatment and awareness programs. Pricing of the pink coins would be out later and would change as per the spot price of precious metals.
