2018-02-21 Wed
Several historically significant English coins will be showcased at the 2018 Long Beach Expo from 22nd to 24th February. Some of the coins from the Tyrant Collection are extremely rare. An exhibit named “Tyrants of the Thames” has coins which will be displayed publically for the first time in the US.A unique 5 pound gold proof coin issued in 2010 features the queen’s portrait on the obverse and a portrait of the legendary musician John Lennon on the reverse. A silver version was also produced by the Royal Mint for collectors. Only one gold coin was struck and presented to Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono. Yoko later auctioned the coin and donated the proceeds to a charity. The charity raised money for a children’s hospital in Liverpool, England. Today this one-and-only rare coin is a part of Tyrant Collection. For the very first time, the coin would be publically exhibited at Long Beach Expo.
