2018 Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Quarter Launch Ceremony

The launch ceremony for the 2018 Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore quarter dollar took place at Mather Elementary School Auditorium, in Munising, Michigan on 7th February. 950 persons attended the event out of which 500 were schoolchildren. Each child was given an Uncirculated circulation quality 2018-P quarter dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint for free. Others were allowed to exchange cash for 40-coin $10 face value rolls. The exchange program was sponsored by Peoples State Bank of Munising. $16,000 face value in new quarter dollars was exchanged.The Federal Reserve circulated the new quarter dollars on 5th February. Bags and rolls of the coins were also offered at numismatic premiums above face value. Almost 50 people attended the coin forum at the Munising Township Office in Wetmore, Michigan on 6th February. Current and upcoming U.S. Mint programs were discussed at this event.
The reverse design features the famous Chapel Rock and the white pine tree on it. Inscriptions include PICTURED ROCKS, MICHIGAN, 2018 and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
It is the 41st coin under the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. 52 coins are going to be issued in total. Each coin would celebrate a national park or historic site in each of the 50 states, Columbia and five U.S. territories.
