New Shine of Poste Belgique
2018-02-14 Wed
Diamonds are forever appearing on the stamps of Belgium. The Belgique post does not fail to give credit to the number one industry of the nation: i.e. the Diamond Industry, which has always been honoured by the Poste Belguique. The New philately issue of 2018 glorifies Antwerp. Considered as the Diamond Capital of the world, Antwerp has held this title for more than 500 years. Today, approximately 80 percent of the world’s rough diamonds and 50 percent of the polished diamonds are traded through the city’s diamond district.
Like always, Belgium Philately has contributed in its most unique way. A set of five stamps has been issued, each of which bears the same denomination of €1. Not only have the stamps showed all the stages of the evolution of the diamonds, both stamps as well as the souvenir sheet are in shape of a Diamond!
May the Diamonds Always Shine Down on the World!
