The greatest Basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan celebrates his 53rd birthday today. Jordan played 15 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards. He was the one who was responsible for popularizing the NBA around the world in the 1980s and 1990s.

Jordan averaged 28.2 ppg on 51.5% shooting, during his first season in the NBA. He quickly became a sensation and was covered on Sports Illustrated with the heading "A Star Is Born" just over a month into his professional career. Jordan was also voted in as an All-Star starter by the fans in his rookie season.

Special stamps have been issued featuring the star by different countries like Uganda, St. Vincent.
