Gold Mohur of Ahmad Shah Bahadur

This gold mohur which was issued by Ahmad Shah Bahadur of Mughal Empire is listed for INR 70,000 in the upcoming Auction of Todywalla which will be held in Ahmadabad on 9th February 2018.After the death of his father Muhammad Shah, Ahmad Shah Bahadur ruled Mughal Empire between 1748 to 1754 CE, for almost six years. He was deposed by his Vizier Feroze Jung III, who later blinded him and his mother. He spent the remaining years of his life in prison and died in the year 1775 at the age of 50.
This gold mohur was issued by Ahmed Shah Bahadur during the 2nd year of his reign. The weight of the coin is around 10.8 g. The obverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Sikka Mubarak Badshah Ghazi Ahmad Shah Bahadur’. The reverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Zarb Mushtaqir Al Khilafa Akbarabad’ with Julus formula and regnal year 2.
