Copper half Paisa of Meward

This copper Paisa was issued by Maharana Kumbhakarna of Meward in western India. He ruled Meward around 1433-1468 CE and was popularly known as Rana Kumbha. He fought against the combine the forces of Gujarat and Malwa led by Mahmud Khilji. His victory over them was commemorated by constructing the ‘Vijay Stambha’ in 1448 CE.The obverse and reverse sides of this square shape coin depicted legends citing Rana Kumbhakarana. This copper paisa was issued from Kumbhalmer Mint. It was sold for INR 16,000 by Todywalla Auctions on 24th March 2012 in New Delhi.
