Jaipur Princely State

Jaipur was the Princely State of India from 1128 to 1947 CE. It was ruled from the 12th century till India's independence by different rulers in different ages like Dhundhar, Kachwaha, Amber and Jaipur Kingdoms. Jaipur state was also ruled by Mughal Empire and later by British Empire. The city of Jaipur was founded by Maharaja Jai Singh II in the year 1728. Jaipur is also known as the Pink City of India.The Maharaja of Jaipur belongs to the Kacchwaha Rajput dynasty, who claims to be descendent of Kush, one of the sons of Lord Rama, King of Ayodhya. History of Jaipur had also witnessed conflicts with Jats, Marathas, other Rajputs States, Pindaris and the British.
During Revolt of 1857, Maharaja decided to remain loyal to the British and sent military forces to assist the British to suppress the uprising in other places. Jaipur was incorporated into the Union of India in 1948 and later became the capital of Rajasthan state.
This gold mohur was issued by Madho Singh II from the mint of Sawai Jaipur.
