Postage stamp issued to commemorate centenary of Mahasamadhi of Shri Shirdi Sai Baba

India Post issued a commemorative stamp on “Centenary of Mahasamadhi of Shri Shirdi Sai Baba” on 15th December 2017. It was released by, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Communications Manoj Sinha in the presence of the notable spiritual thinker, Dr Chandra Bhanu Satpathy.This grand event was organized under the guidance of Satpathy. In his speech, he described the simple humble living of life of Sai Baba.
Sai Baba of Shirdi was an Indian spiritual master who was regarded as a saint, fakir, and Satguru. He was followed by both Hindus and Muslims. One of his very well known epigrams, ‘Sabka Malik Ek’ meaning ‘One God governs all’ became very popular. His teachings combined the elements of Hinduism and Islam. He taught people to help others and love every living human being without any discrimination. He encouraged his devotees to pray, chant God’s name and read Holy Scriptures.
The stamp depicts Sai Baba in a seated posture with ‘Bharat/ India’ on the top right and ‘Centenary of Mahasamadhi of Shri Shirdi Sai Baba’ on left and right in Devanagari and English, having the face value of INR 5.
