The Italian Ministry of Economics and Finance along with the Italian State Mint released a €5 coin celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Fiat 500. Designed by master engraver Claudia Momoni, the mintage limit of the coin is 4,000 pieces only.
The coin features a 1957 Fiat 500 along with its latest model and the inscription ‘Repubblica Italiana’. The reverse features the classic 500 with the dates 1957 and 2017, along with the coin’s denomination. It also depicts a mint mark ‘R’ for Rome and the engraver’s name. The coin can be purchased for €40.
The Fiat 500 60th anniversary commemorative stamp was also released by Italian Post Office this year. The car is a permanent addition to the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Fiat 500 played a major role in improving means of locomotion and stabilising economic conditions of Italy during the post-world-war period. It later went on to export cars all over the world. 80 percent of Fiat 500 sales are outside the country. It’s one of Europe’s best-selling cars, first in eight countries and among the best three in six others.
