Andorra Celebrates its Status as a Pyrenean Country on New Coins

Andorra will be releasing a commemorative €2 coin, celebrating its status as “the Pyrenean country” in December.The obverse features a triangle, with three surging strips denoting a simple version of Andorra's map. Other inscriptions include ANDORRA, EL PAIS DELS PIRINEUS which translates to “the Pyrenean country” and the year of issue. The three elements represent a consistent image for all graphic communication and identification.
Andorra sits on Pyrenees Mountains between Spain and France and is the sixth-smallest European country. The country’s population is 77,000 while the mintage limit of the coin is 85,000 pieces.
The ringed-bimetallic coin with a copper-nickel core and copper-aluminum-nickel ring, weighs 8.5 grams. The outer ring features 12 stars of the European flag and the reverse features a map of the European Union.
