Rafi-ud-Daula sat on the Mughal Throne in the year 1719. He was the 11th Emperor of the Mughal Dynasty. He succeeded his brother Rafi-ud-Darjat and sat on the Mughal throne with the title Shah Jahan II. He was one of the kings who sat on the Mughal throne with the help of the Sayyid brothers, who were also known as the King-maker in the Mughal history. He was just a puppet in the hands of Sayyid brothers.Rafi-ud-Daula issued coins in gold, silver and copper. Coins which he had issued with his name ‘Rafi-ud-Daula’ are very rare.
This gold mohur which he had issued from the mint ‘Dar-ul-Khilafat Shahjahanabad’ during the first year of his reign weighs around 10.9g. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of the king and the reverse of the coin is inscribed with the mint name with the regnal year Ahad at the bottom.
