Interesting 1800 Draped Bust cent Auctioned for $780

The 5th finest of 10 known 1795 Flowing Hair, Reeded Edge cents from the Padula Family Collection of Large Cents was sold for $192,000 at the Long Beach Coin, Currency, Stamp & Sports Collectible Show by Heritage.A 1800 Draped Bust cent, S-197, graded Very Fine 25 from the same collection was sold for $780. The offered coin is commonly known as Sheldon 197. It belongs to the “Q” variety since the die chips at the first 0 of the date makes the digit look like letter “Q”. Apart from the well-blended scratches below the bust, there are no major anomalies. The coin was also a part of two prominent collections.
