Postcard with Line-drawing by Original Picasso to be Auctioned

2017-10-11 Wed

Germany’s Christoph Gaertner Auction is going to offer a wide range of exciting philatelic delights from 16th to 20th October.

A major highlight is a recently discovered single 1882 China 3-candareen Large Dragon brown red stamp with wide margins on a cover to Tientsin. Tied by a Peking (Beijing) blue seal, the Western-style cover is postmarked Peking March 29, 1882, on the reverse. The offered item has a starting bid of €15,000. The Auction house states that very few inland covers like these are known. A collection of Bavarian rarities and two collections of German occupation in World War II built over decades are something to look out for.

A newly discovered postcard written by Pablo Picasso in 1923 featuring a line drawing of a horse’s head, along with his signature is another major highlight. The postcard has two 5-centime orange Sower stamps from France and was mailed to Paris. This unique item has an opening bid of €75,000.
